SOUL MEDICINE

IN LOVING MEMORY OF SHARON KAYE MOORE, MY MOTHER, MY ANGEL...

In many of my prior articles you have read my belief that we are made up of four bodies and that we must strive to heal each one in order to bring about complete healing on this earthly plain. The four bodies are the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. For many, the healing doesn’t start until the physical or mental bodies begin to break down. Rarely do we address the emotional body which in my opinion is generally the initial cause of the physical and mental breakdown in the first place and quite often it is the spiritual body that is considered last. When I mention this spiritual body, I am not referring to your religion, or whether or not you are an avid church attendee. But rather, I am referring to your connection to the higher power, God and your oneness with him, your faith, and if you carry a divine peace in your heart, love and respect for yourself and others. Loving and knowing the essence of who you are. My belief is that we should restore ourselves in this order; spiritually, emotionally, mentally and lastly physically and this is where we will find healing and strength through all adversity. My beautiful, angelic Mother, whom was diagnosed two years ago with breast and lymph cancer lost her battle with the cancer last week. She fought it conventionally (chemotherapy and radiation) with success they had said for a time, but two days before this past Christmas she was told she had 3 months to live. The cancer had infiltrated the blood, liver, lungs, bones and her brain. My Mother was raised to have a belief in conventional medicine therefore refused all natural forms of healing or diet changes and when the cancer came back at full force she also denied all further conventional treatments that were offered. The only thing that my Mother did wrong health wise was to eat the Standard American Diet (SAD). During my Mothers last few months, her loved ones were blessed to witness her strength, for she was on a beautiful journey and she was able to walk an incredible path and make her transition at the tender age of 58 to heaven with complete peace in her heart. She had comfort in knowing that she had come to this world to dispense and employ the most powerful medicine of all, what I call Soul Medicine (LOVE). Below is the tribute that I wrote and read at her service and I would like to share it with my readers in her honor. Sharon Kaye Carlson Moore There are so many words that truly describe my Mom, she has always been: loving, delightful, beautiful, radiant, ageless, vivacious, elegant, poised, sparkling, clever, witty, playful, inquisitive, enthusiastic, charismatic, talented, crafty, meticulous, lighthearted, warmhearted, tender, cheerful, supportive, patient, encouraging, admirable, dependable, loyal, faithful, devoted, compassionate, doting, strong, courageous, genuine, pure, virtuous, trustworthy, honest, and saintly. My Mom was treasured, cherished, adored and loved by all that knew her. Mom was and is a teacher and a gift giver...and throughout her life with us, she loved to bestow gifts to all of her loved ones. And even as she weakened and her physical body was dying, she continued to take part in the giving of many beautiful gifts--For even in this sorrowful time of our lives we were able to witness her many strengths and virtues and the beauty of her spirit as she allowed us to realize what it was that she came to this life to accomplish. For she came to administer love and kindness to everyone that she encountered--and I am sure that you will all agree that she succeeded in her mission. She taught us what unconditional love is by looking past our discrepancies and errors, by forgiving and forgetting our transgressions. Mom never once condemned or criticized our decisions or our own personal journeys through life even though they may have strayed from her own convictions and point of view. Rather Mom came to us with the wisdom and the insight to allow us, uplift and support us in becoming who we were meant to be, and she loved and praised each and every one of us as much as we love and praise her. As her daughter I have been extremely privileged to be able to observe a beautiful expression and example of love. Since early childhood I have been thankful that I had parents whom truly loved and respected one another--parents who were always not only partners but also best friends. I always knew, felt and witnessed that there was always a special kind of love in our home. My brother and I were blessed--But through my Mothers illness I was even more blessed than ever in seeing and feeling the most beautiful, purest, dedicated display of love that could ever be given. To my Mother and my Father...I praise you and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of and an extension of this purest form of love. I am so very proud of you both--you never once wavered in 40 years of marriage even through adversity. Together...you both built our family a strong foundation and you stood your ground--which stood the test of time. Not even space, time nor dimension can separate our family. Love cannot be ended or lost. Even at the very end of Moms physical life here with us, she departed with beauty and grace. If for no other reason my Mothers soul came to this world, it was surely for these last gifts that she has given to us. Through her, we have been given love, courage, strength, dignity, integrity, character, honor, goodness, value and promise--For in her remembrance, She will always be with us in our hearts, in our thoughts, and in her promise that she too will carry our essence with her throughout eternity. So, I will try my best not to say a tearful goodbye because I know that you are here with me Mom...but...Until I see you again my precious angel, my Mother, my best friend, my confidant, my mentor and my teacher--I love you forevermore!!!
Mom, if you can hear me...I wrote this for you. Come sit in our hearts... Come share in our thoughts... Come dance in our dreams... Come play in nature with us... Come smell the flowers that we will all plant for you... Come sing with the bluebirds and the doves... Show us your radiance in the brightest of stars... Let us feel your warmth in the rays of the sun... And in the dark and lonely nights, when we miss you so much... Let it be there, that we feel your gentle touch... And as you come to give comfort and put our hearts at ease... We’ll know you are with us and that’s where we will find peace... Show us your grace in the flowing branches of the willow... And as we drift into our slumber, let us feel your softness as we lay our heads to our pillow... Let us see your pureness in the snowfall... And feel your freshness in the rain... And show us your strength within the stones... As we toss away our pain... Show us your magnificence, awe and wonder in the mountains... And your continuous love flowing through the streams... And your promise in the rainbows... For we will know that in all that we see--you are with us, not only in our dreams... Thank you Mama...Thank you for being You!
I was blessed and privileged to be able to spend 2 days a week and weekends to care for my Mother and I thank my clients and readers for being patient with me when I was not in the office to return calls right away or able to fit you in as quickly as I should have, but to all of you, thank you, for you had lovingly allowed me a beautiful gift also. My Mother was able to die in my arms knowing that I love her as much as she loves me. God bless all of you.
